Personal Effects

Many of our staff members spend several weeks at camp, and have chosen to bring many personal items with them. A few guidelines will help you be happier and keep your belongings safer:

  1. Lock up all of your valuables – remember that locks are made to keep honest people honest.
  2. Do not discuss how much or where you keep your cash with anyone.
  3. Lock your vehicle if you or driving to and from camp.
  4. Do not bring anything to camp that cannot be replaced.
  5. Do not take items of value outside of staff areas.
  6. Respect everyone else’s property.
  7. Do not take or borrow from others without their permission.
  8. Follow the Scout Oath and Law.
  9. No “R” or “X” rated videos, games, magazines, (i. e.) are allowed at camp at anytime.

Electronic Equipment

It has become traditional at Camp Blue Heron to allow the use of personal electronic equipment in your private living space. However, there are several guidelines that must be followed to protect you, your fellow staff members, the camp properties and program.

·         You are responsible for your own equipment.

·         Realize there is no way to secure your electronic equipment.

·         If you choose to allow others to use your electronic equipment, you assume all responsibility for any damage they may cause.

·         Do not use your electronic equipment during your working hours – it is for off time only, unless it relates directly to your job.

·         Equipment powered by electricity is restricted to one of each item per cabin/room. For example: 1 Computer, 1 Refrigerator, 1 TV, and 1 VCR. Due to power restrictions, it may be necessary to scale back these conveniences if discretion and good judgment is not used.

·         Do not allow use of electronic toys to interfere with your sleep needs.

·         Do not allow use of electronic toys to interfere with your camp responsibilities.

Remember that electricity is paid for by the camp budget. Budget money comes from camper fees. Many Scouts work very hard to get the money just to come to camp for a week. If we overspend our electricity budget, it hurts our program budgets, which hurts our ability to do our job.
