The
selection committee of the Coastal Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America is
proud to announce Tom Cardiff as its new Scout Executive; Mr. Cardiff will
begin his executive tenure beginning November 1, 2006.
We are excited to
have Tom and his wife, September, and their four sons - Justin, Hayden,
Cayman and Tazman - joining our Scouting family.
Tom’s involvement in Scouting began as a boy
growing up on John’s Island, SC where he started as a Cub Scout moving
through the program and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Some of his
favorite memories are those of Scouting with his four brothers and having
his father as their Scout Master. He has also had the privilege of being a
staff member at Camp Ho Non Wah for many years where he developed his love
for the summer camp programs.
Tom received his Bachelor’s degree in
history from Morehead State University. While there, he met his lovely wife
and played football. After graduating he took a job with the Boy Scouts as
a District Executive over a twelve county district in Kentucky. Over the
past twenty years of his involvement with the Blue Grass Council, Tom has
had the opportunity to be Camp Director, Round-Table Commissioner, COPE
Director, and Scoutmaster, among other positions.
Tom enjoys camping, hiking, golfing,
coaching football, playing basketball, and spending time with his family.
He is very active in his church and enjoys working with youth.
Tom has a great love for the Scouting
program and the values and character it teaches to youth, and he is proud to
be a part of the great Scouting movement.
